Sakura_Kobe's new Matsuyama Page
Matsuyama is a capital of Ehime Prefecture in Shikoku, one of Japan's four main islands. It takes 1 hr.25 min. by air from Tokyo and 50 min.from Osaka.
Matsuyama served as a castle town from the 17th century through the Edo period. It was famous for the birthplace of modern haiku poets, Takahama Kyoshi, Masaoka Shiki, etc. But for me, it is the place where Soseki Natsume worte the famous novel about. "Dogo Spa" is in the eastern part of the city and one of the oldest spas in Japan.
"I'm going on a trip
You stay here, the autumun separated into two
With sentimental feeling of parting"
"Would you be away from home,
You should start on a trip
celebrating with sake(Japanese liquor) and chrysanthemum"
