well located, METRO REPUBLIQUE, about 2 blocks from monument . walking distance to mayot attraction, located close to bellevue neightborhood , cheap food and super markets around. Clean with nice deco. about 27 euros for a double room.
Unique Quality: good internet, actually free.
Directions: 2 blocks walking thru Rue Faouborough, will pass Club med gym, habitat furniture store, across the street from Mcdonalds.
We stayed in a mixed 4 people room which was very small and what you could expect for the price and the accommodation type. The hotel itself is really nice looking (we joked that the staircase looks like the inside of the brothel lol), only thing that we did not like was the bathroom which was really small and dirty.
Otherwise the hotel is OK, you have free internet in the lobby and every morning you have breakfast in the basement (coffee, orange juice, croissants).
The location for us was perfect. only 5 min away from Republique metro station which is quite large and can take you in all directions in Paris.
Directions: Republique
I just came back from Paris and we stayed in a hotel called Absoulte @ Paris (Hotel/Hostel), which used to be called Beausejour Hotel. I think they changed the name recently (Now it's Oct 2004) as our booking was still made for Beausejour.
Anyway, the staff speak reasonable English but attitude was quite terrible. We tried speaking in French, but they were not so kind and kept correcting our pronounciation, which put us off to speak in French.
The wall was so thin that you could hear anything. I couldn't sleep well because of that. And one day, we had no hot water as heating system was burst.
Breakfast was not good. It seemed they kept croissants from Monday? Tuesday morning's croissent was the freshest, but other days, horrible. Coffee was not good, either...so we decided to have a breakfast in Mcdonald sometimes.
Only good thing is very close to Metro (Republique) and St.Martin canal. Very convenient.
Unique Quality: Interior was ok in the room. Wall was redone with wall paper &c. But the wall is too thin!!!
Directions: Very close to Place de la Republique.
I stayed there for 7 nights. Very good hostel, almost perfect: the rooms are clean, have shower, toilet and TV. Linen and breakfast is included. The staff team is very helpfull and friendly. The only downpoints are that there are no lockers you can lock your valuabels and the street noise. There is an internet cafe in about 5 minutes walk which is really cheap (follow Rue du Fg du Temple in Eastern direction).
Directions: next to of the canal St Martin and the Marais district, near to Metro station Republique
