Paris Tip
the most pittoresque and stylish area in Paris must be 'marais' district with lots of art galleries, fashion boutiques and stylish cafés. also especially rue Ste-Croix-de-la-Bretonnerie and rue du Temple, is the hub of the Paris gay scene.

We stayed at the Hotel de la Bretonnerie located in the Gay District. There was five of us in a two bedroom suite at approximately $215.00 (US$) a night. This was a huge consideration since not too many hotels offer this much space in a room for the right price! Of course, the rates are lower during the "off season". The Gay district is known for their night life - lots of Gay bars but for the most part felt very safe in this area. There were many small cafes and bakeries near by that made it convenient if you wanted a pastry or sandwich to snack on. About 2 or 3 blocks away from the Metro and north of Notre Dame.
Unique Quality: Itsy, bitsy elevator. Send your luggage up and meet it the next floor by taking the stairs. A small hotel but the ambience was that of Paris and I enjoyed that! One of the few hotels that offered a bath with the room!
Delightful hotel on a quiet street a short stroll from the Pompidou and a ten minute walk from Notre Dame
Small and quiet with charming staff speaking excellent English.
Very comfortable bedroom with antique furniture and excellently equipped bathroom
Both the bedroom and bathroom were spacious by Paris standards, I have stayed in a "double" room smaller than the bathroom here.
Unique Quality: The Marais is a fascinating old quarter of Paris, Parisians live and work here.
Wonderfully chic fashion boutiques along the Rue des Francs Bourgeois, delightful cafes along the rue Vieille du Temple, and I felt perfectly safe walking back to the hotel late at night.
This hotel is situated in DE MARAIS, the old jewish quartier in Paris.
In a 17th century building it is one of the most comfortable hotels dans le Marais.
The rooms have wooden shutters, always a nice bathroom with bath, wooden beams and antique furnishing.
A real pleasure entereing such a room and I am sure you will say: wow or ooohhhh....
Unique Quality: There are 30 rooms, all with colour TV, bathroom, telephone, minibar and there is an elevator.....
This last item is the first thing I ask after because it is so important, especially when there are no picolos to help you carry your luggage..

To reach the street Rue Ste Croix de la Bretonnerie, just go straight ahead from the metro station "Les Halles".. It is a very cute and interesting street! A lot of small and cute shops with wooden fassade!!! It belongs to the neighborhood called the "Marais".
Anyone stay there, good/bad experiences?
I don't know that hotel, but I do know that there are several very good and reasonable restaurants on that street, Rue Ste-Croix de la Bretonnerie.
By the way, it is always much less expensive if you go for lunch. Just be sure to get to the restaurant of your choice early or make a reservation as the locals fill the restaurants quickly.
