Good for a couple of nights

    by

No frills hotel, but great for a couple of nights. After a last minute decision to go to Paris over the July 4th weekend (we live in Germany), we found what appeared to be the last family suite in Paris. (Note, most hotels in France limit you to 4 persons per room). A parking garage was located about two blocks away, and we were able to get a special discount rate since we left the car for the weekend (no driving in/out each day). We arrived about 2 hours after check in began. The "suite" was two hotel rooms across from one another, at the end of the hall, with a third door that closed off the two rooms from the rest of the hallway. One of the two rooms had been cleaned, the other had not. We locked our bags in the clean room and headed out for Notre Dame Cathedral; when we returned the other room had been cleaned. Friendly staff, very helpful with directions. Continental breakfast in the mornings. Walking to the Eiffel Tower only took about 30 minutes, with three small children in tow. Ten minute walk to the bus stops.

Unique Quality: Family suite for 5. Free wireless, small safe in each room. Continental breakfast. Nice view of the Eiffel Tower from the street, especially at night when it was lit up. Several restuarants and bakeries nearby. Fairly centrally located. Parking garage and metro station nearby.

We paid only 400 ff. with breakfast.
    (roughly 60 dollars a night)

Unique Quality: VERY nice and helpful staff who will answer any questions you may have.

TINY rooms, but they have french windows (of course!), and are very clean and comfortable.

Breakfast is usually included and can be enjoyed in the small courtyard out back.

I liked the hotel but the area is somewhat away from any kind of nightlife activities (and remember the metro stops at midnight), so that may be something to consider if you like being out until very late.

If you like peace and quiet at night, this is the place to stay, however!

Directions: 47 Rue des Volontaires 75015 Paris

This is in the arrondissement of Monteparnasse.

Hotels in Paris?

by TravelEnthu

Hello VTers,

MY husband and I will be visiting Paris from May 16th to May 19th. We are looking for reasonably priced ($50-80$) accomdation in 7th,14th or 6th district from where it would be easy to hop on the metro train or walk to the famous tourist attractions like Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame and the Museum.

Please provide suggestions or recommedations for the hotels.

Thanks!

First of all, avoid 14th district because it is not centrally located and it does not match your request excepted the price.
I suggest the Hotel St Andre des Arts : 66 rue St Andre des Arts 6° arrondissement - 331 43 26 96 16
fax : 331 43 29 73 34.
It is close to Metro St Michel .Nearby you can enjoy the shops of the Quartier Latin and St Germain des Pres.
Cross the Pont neuf and you reach the Louvre Museum.
I know some VT members who used it and were satisfied.
The price is near your target : I have memorized a price near 60 Euros for a single room.

Hotel Alma on R. de Alma in the 7th meets all your requirements. Gedt the room on the top floor that is right on top of the Eiffel Tower.

Are you talking abour Derby Alma Hotel in 7th arr.? It shows up as $179.95/night.
Are we talking about the same hotel?
Thanks

Hello. I suggest the Hotel Cactus and Hotel Minerve (both have full information on my VT Paris page). Minerve is a bit fancier, but I loved it-especially the balconies.

I recently stayed in the 5th district which is not far from Notre Dame, Sorbonne, Pantheon and very close to the metro.

Here is the web site:

I love it, clean, friendly and convenient. The price was 81 euros

Best,

Joanne

No: The Hote L'Alma is on the R. Alma, sorry I do not have more info. The Champ-de-Mars, also next to the Eiffel in the 7th may also suit you it's at 7 Champ de Mars-01 45 51 52 30. Almost identical to the Alma but on a slightly better street. Enjoy
