There are two Hotel De L'Exposition in Paris. One is on Boulevard de Magenta, the other is on Bis Rue du Theatre. I am writing about the latter.
First impressions weren't much. The hotel didn't really stand out, infact we ended up walking past it when we first arrived in Paris. The lobby area and the small corridors weren't very impressive and it looked as though the hotel either needed to be decorated or was in actual fact in the process of being decorated.
Luckily, first impressions didn't put me off because the rooms were very clean and comfortable (the pillows were super comfy!). The room was quite small but we didn't require anything bigger and it was perfectly fine for two people. Nice shiny bathroom. TV set and safe in bedroom. What more do you need?
In the movies they like you to believe you can see the Eiffel Tower from every room in Paris. Not true, of course. We didn't have a view of the Eiffel Tower from our room but all we had to do was turn left out of the hotel front door, walk to the end of the road and then look right and we could see it!
Unique Quality: The breakfast room was very tastefully decorated. A small room in the basement but very pleasant. There's was a good selection of food, croissants, chocolate spread, fruit juice etc etc typical sort of stuff.
If I went back to Paris I would have no problem staying in this hotel again.
Directions: Not too far from a metro station though I cannot remember which (it took us a little while to find the hotel but once we got our bearing it was easy)
