Pont des Arts is my ultimate Parisian picnic experience. It's the place where my husband and I get entertained by a guitar or a sax, while enjoying the best views that Paris has on offer. We usualy go at sunset for an especially magical experience and never forget to take the wine or the champagne!
1ere and 6eme, Metro: Pont Neuf or Louvre-Rivoli
This work of art is worth a pic coz when she was borned ...it attracted a lot of criticism as to its appropriateness in front of such a grand and classic building as the Louvre.
So what do you think ?
Personally I think it blends well with the environment , coz after all Pyramid is not a new architecture...but do you know that this pyramid is being built with 666 glass window ? why 666 ? go figure it out ( its mentioned in the Da Vinnci Code )
Its thru this pyramid that you will enter the museum, once you go down , there are 3 entrances which leads to different wings namely Richelieu, Denon and Sully.
NOTE - try to take Metro and stop at Louvre Rivoli and from there you will get straight to the lobby of the 3 entrances ( you skipped the long queue outside the museum ) . Remember its Metro Station Louvre Rivoli not Metro Station Palais Royal - Musee de Louvre !

From many places in Paris you can have a nice overview of the city. During one of my early visits to Paris I went to La Samaritaine, the largest department store in Paris.
I went to the café on the roof, which offers a 360 degree view of Paris. In the north you can see very well Montmartre and the Sacre Coeur from here.
Originally La Samaritaine takes its name from an old water pump near the Pont Neuf, which was decorated with the woman of Sameria, giving a drink of water to Jesus.

Hi! Just read Places to visit in Paris.
Some said must go to the entrance of Metro station Palais Royal - Musee de Louvre, & some said Metro station Louvre Rivoli.
Can anyone tell me which one has the shorter queues?
Also, I saw message mentioned I can get a free map at the information desk under the glass pyramid, am I able to get the it from other entrances?
Thanks!!
Hi,
The longer or shorter queue depends on do you have a ticket or not ? If you have one (purchased in advance or a Paris Musee card) you can use the lines Passage Richelieu or the special line at the entry Caroussel du Louvre (under the Pyramid).
If you have to buy a ticket you have to go either at Caroussel or at Porte des Lions
The metro station Palais Royal is near the Caroussel, Louvre Rivoli near Passage Richelieu
You can download maps of the museum from http://www.louvre.fr/
Thanks Mariev, your information really make it clear for me.
Conde Nast Traveller magazine did a whole writeup on getting into the Louvre within the last year or two, which unfortunately i dont have available. Try their website concierge.com.
Hello
Louvre rivoli is a bit further away from the Louvre, whilst the Métro Palais royal Musée du Louvre has a direct entrance , through line number 1 platform, to the shopping mall leading underground to the pyramid, which always has less queues than if you go to the main pyramid in the Louvre courtyard.
If you mean you want to get a map of the Louvre, then you will have to go to the main pyramid to get it...Enjoy the visit!

Think there is one out in Les Quatres Temps in La Defense, see my Paris Pages.
There is an H & M at the Metro stop "Louvre-Rivoli" that is big, and there is also one by Printemps and Galerie Lafayette (I usually get off at "Havre-Caumartin" but there are some other stops near there also like "St Lazare").
how to get from appart'city saint maurice to louvre museum by the metro? thank you!
I can give you a link to the Paris Metro map:
http://www.aparisguide.com/maps/metro.htm
and tell you that the nearest Metro stops for the Louvre are Louvre Rivoli and Palais Royal Musée du Louvre, both on Line 1 (yellow).
Your hotel's nearest Metro stop is Ecole Vétérinaire de Maisons Alfort on Line 8
(light purple).
So, for the Louvre, you will need to change Metro lines at Bastille.
:-)
If your hotel is near Metro Ecole Veterinaire, you would probably be better off taking your line 8 in the direction of Balard only to stop Reuilly-Diderot and changing to line 1 in the direction of La Defense-Grande Arche. You would get off at stop Palais Royale-Musee du Louvre.
You can check various routes at http://www.ratp.info/informer/anglais/index.php
You have a choice of putting in an address or choosing a station or a place and it is in English. I'd also check the French portion of the web site for problems on the various lines that day. They are pretty good about posting delays and shutdowns.
Enjoy your trip.
