Will be in Paris for 10 days, need advice for a place to stay?

by Goodfellow248

My girlfriend and I will be visiting at the end of Feb. I have been researching for a decent hotel to stay at for a reasonable price(60-100euro). I wouls rather spend money for food and other expenses, but I don't want to stay at a place that isn't safe or comfortable. Thanks. I found this site a few days ago and it is a wealth of information.

Hi,
If you stay in Paris in 10 days, I suggest you to stay in the residence hotel (hotel with small kitchen). Henri IV is romantic old traditional style hotel. I stayed at Hotel Residence des Halles. Location is very good. And room interior is pretty. If you stay there 10 days, I guess they will give you discount.

Travel Tips for Paris

Visit all the sites, La...

Visit all the sites, La Louvre, Eiffel Tower, Arch di Triomphe, La Defense, Museum Orsay, Picasso, Opera House, Sacre Coeur etc. If you only have a limited time in Paris, don't forget to go up the Eiffel Tower at night and visit the Louvre. Strolling down the streets and seeing the Eiffel Tower lit up at night. The Eiffel tower just takes your breath away and can be seen everywhere in Paris.

Paris Tip

Back to the LOUVRE MUSEUM....

Don't just take pics outside the museum. Don't be deterred by the ever-so-looooong queues to get in. Wake up earlier and stand in line. It's worth it, trust me.

Once in there, you'd get to see exhibits like the one below... one of the largest paintings housed inside the museum (strategically placed next to the 'Mona Lisa'!).

Religion of Pain (Bread)

Eat bread like a Parisian
Parisians LOVE bread. You may think it stereotypical for them to be portrayed carrying a baguette munching it while walking thru the streets but this image of them still holds true. I snapped a photo of a Parisian in the Cité Florale area of the 13th arrondissement (as typical a Parisian area as you can find) carrying a baguette of bread home.

Try Poilâne’s (Lionel) at 8 rue du Cherche-Midi (a veritable shrine to bread) for a small round of their trademark sourdough (my favorite is with walnuts). While there buy one of their lovely signature linen bags either for yourself (to tote future bread) or for a friend; the emblem "Poilâne" is embroidered simply & elegantly on the side.

Chateau de Versailles : Be swept away

by Restless-in-kl

So many windows, rooms, fireplaces, staircases that you can't really count and more than 1,800 acres of park. The paintings, tapestries, sculptures ,furniture of this fabulous castle , have been executed by the best Italian and French artists of the time.

Be captivated by its majesty, gilded richness especially the Hall of Mirrors. It certainly left a lasting impression. The French certainly knew how to enjoy life. We can definitely take a page out of history.

Then there are the Grand Trianon and Petit Trianon with lovely gardens. When the King wants to get away, this is where he spent time with family.

To get there :

By train :
RER ligne C
direction Versailles-rive-gauche-château
from Montparnasse station
train SNCF direction Versailles-Chantiers
from Saint-Lazare station
train SNCF direction Versailles-rive-droite
trains timetable

By bus :
from Pont de Sèvres ligne 171 de la RATP
