Hotel Royal Bergere Paris

A 3-star hotel? It must be a joke!

We were moved to this hotel, after finding bedbugs in our bed and refusing to spend a night at the previous hotel Williams Opera. I've seen 2-star hotels a lot better than Royal-Bergere, but we only decided to stay here because it was almost midnight, we were too tired to look for another hotel and the room n ° 34 seemed okay (no bedbugs in sight). Room and bathroom were tinier than Williams Opera and definitely in need of a refurb. The walls are thin, so not only you can hear everything, but you can also smell someone's cigarette. I didn't have a good night's sleep because I was still worried there would be bedbugs just waiting for the right time...

Breakfast was included in the rate and it's served downstairs in a tiny room at the back of the reception. That morning was a bit hectic because there was an electricity failure. Not a problem for us taking the narrow stairs. Breakfast (continental) was adequate. You could have croissants, pains au chocolat , jams, butter, la vache qui rit (creamy cheese), cereals, coffee, tea, orange juice, milk and youghourt.

After lunch, we came back to leave a few things we bought. It was too heavy to carry around. The bed was done and the towels were changed. I was about to take a nap, when I noticed something on the bed cover. Another insect!!! At first, we thought it was dead, but it wasn't!!!! It was another bedbug!!!! This time, only found that one.

Our plan was to spend the night outside at a club, but we lacked sleep and were too tired (we visited le Sacré Coeur, Montmartre neighborhood and went to a concert), besides we were leaving very early the next day. We only spent the night there because there weren't any visible bedbugs.

I personally didn't like the area. I would rather have stayed near Republique than here.
