Our stay at the Windsor Opera Hotel marked a wonderful time for us in Paris. We enjoyed ourselves immensely anhd had great service from the hotel staff.
We stayed at the Windsor Opera for a week. We, being a party of 3 20+ yr olds, stayed in a triple which consisted of 3 single beds placed in a rather small room but it fit us fine we weren't expecting spacious, though the ceilings are quite high. The bathroom was clean and in good condition. I really enjoyed the big windows which let in the wonderful may weather. The staff was really helpful and i found them to be pretty up front about any of their accomadations they even suggested that we exchange money elsewhere because they would be charging us more than an actual bank or anything. As far as problems went we had trouble dialing anything but local numbers from our room phone and the wireless internet was not working. We paid for the breakfast although it probably would've been cheaper to walk right up the road to the closest patisserie and get breakfast there, the breakfast was alright, we were always satisfied. Honestly though the staff was really great and everything went off without a hitch for us. We all loved the place and would happily stay there again in the future. Safe, friendly, affordable - the trifecta of any hotel experience.
BEST VALUE FOR MONEY !!! Terrific. reception staff friendly, helpful. They speak portuguese too !!location very convenient for all kind of things (shopping, entertainment). Staff quite and patient.
I shall come back there.
Well, I was there one week and I must say that this hotel doesn't merit 3 stars! The staff was at general ok. Little note on the reception desk with text "Be quit, the boss is very nerveus today" reflects the attitude towards customers even if it was a joke (if it was!!).
The first room they gave me was airless and extreamly concise: the door couldn't be opended, it hit the bed! And practically there was not a window!! I would have gone gazy there but they let me change the room. It was more ..normal! The grey carpet...well, I don't like.
I never took a breakfast: it costs 14 euros! Not worth for it!! There is a good "Monoprix" in surroundigs so I went there to shop some food.
In the neighbourhood there must be a constuction project because there was a regular noise at evenings and in mornig. I bought a pair of ear plugs.
Checking out was a bit "not professional", the angry receptionnist didn't even say goodbye. Somewhere else next time, Paris is full of hotels.
What a find... It was great to stay somewhere in Paris that is in a quiet and peaceful street and gives you that real Paris feeling. Staff were friendly and helpful and the rooms were pleasant and a good size for a city hotel. I am glad to have a regular place to stay for my next Paris visit. Au voir
Great l small hotel within walking distance of the Paris Opera. and on a quiet inner street. Quaint small Brkf. room and wonderful reception from owner and front desk personel.
Great smiling reception on our day of arrival. Me and wife Stayed there for 2 nights on easter 2006. The host, especially Mr. Greg was very friendly and helpful. Its a small hotel, so the personnel at the reception , put on many hats. Infact he served us tea in our room as well. but jolly good spirit. The room was no 1 on the ground floor. Its a big room by european standards. big shower as well. We had requested for a double, but 2 single beds were put together. This is a feature of european hotels, most of them dont really have the "double bed". And this one with wheels at the bottom kept slipping away. The breakfast was about 8 or 9 Euro's, but we preffered having warm croissants and coffee right outside the hotel on the main street , where there are many pastry shops and small restaurants. The snack bar is a good one. The cafe at at bonne nouvelle beside the Rex, with a street separating the two, was very expensive and very small portions. We ate there on the first day, as we were very hungry and thats the first restaurant we saw. Paris was virtually closed on Easter sunday and monday. metro was open on both days. The hotel is well located and we had no trouble finding it though its a bit obscure. We followed the directions on this site. We bought visites passes for 2 days and 2 metro stations are very close to the hotel, poissionere and bonne nouvelle. We did get onto the balabus, but being a holiday the frequency was very poor. We walked a lot as well, as most people do in paris. The visites passes however, didnt work at the metro stations at times, and we had to re-endorse them twice. But, overall a memorable and pleasant stay with good hosts and a fab city.
I researched and tried booking for myself and two colleagues over the course of a week and found this site very useful.
Eventually I found this hotel and managed to book. I have to give this Hotel 3 stars as from ringing to confirm with the hotel to arriving at reception they tried to palm us off with different rooms to those booked through lastminute website.
My colleagues got the doubles as I'm the nice nice guy but I got room 9 a single down on the front floor at street level. No room to swing a cat and this is my fifth visit to Paris so am aware of the norm. There was a portable aircon machine pumping out cold air - good, very noisy - bad, had to move that and the fridge to open the hoover cupdoard, sorry wardrobe to cram my small amount of clothes in.
The curtain rail was broken so could not draw them but this was fixed after a trip out for a meal that evening. Shower had fantastic gravity pressure but aprt from that was pretty tired and basic- cracked tiles not new by a 2 or 3 decades. I will say that even though this was a single room the bed was queen sized so ok but it's still a basic room no way deserving 3 stars. Plus it's at street level and there are just bars on the window but no lock on the windows. The curtains were like something you'd have on a kid's playhouse in the garden and there were no smoke alarms in the rooms but apparently were outside.
Staff were helpful and friendly.
My colleagues's rooms were pretty good but they both said they were basic and would not stay there again.
Not as good as I'd hoped but was a roof over our heads in a quiet area.
So location ok but I'd pay the extra and stay somewhere closer to the action and more comfortable next time.
My sister and i took our mum on a trip to Paris for Mothers Day. We wanted a triple room in a standard hotel in that area. The trip advisor website gave it a pretty good review. Not sure how! Our room was beyond basic, with uncomfortable beds, pealing wall paper and shabby decor. It was actually depressing to stay in there any longer that absolutley neccessary. Its cheap but not cheerful and is up there with one of the worst places I have stayed.
Excellent hotel. Aircon, heating, mini bar, plasma screen tv, clean, friendly staff, VERYquiet. Couldn't ask for more. Except maybe a butler! Would definately stay again.
