Paris to Lauterbrunnen

by mariskasholiday

My husband and I are traveling with our 16month old in April and need to get from Paris to Lauterbrunnen.I have heard is is easier to get to Dusseldorp and then on to Lauterbrunnen as if I go by train from Paris to Lauterbrunnen we will have to change trains in the middle of the night.
Could someone please give me some advice.
Thanks

Re: Paris to Lauterbrunnen

You have a High Speed train at 16h58 PARIS GARE DE LYON, arriving in Bern at 21h40
In Bern, a train leaving 22h07 for Interlaken Ost where you will arrive at 22h57
In Interlaken Ost, a train leaving 23h04 for Lauterbrunnen where you will arrive at 23h23

Or better
Paris Gare de l'Est 8h24 --> Basel 11h56
Basel 12h01 --> Interlaken Ost 13h57

To make your search easier, look for trains to Interlaken, not Lauterbrunnen. Lauterbrunnen is only 20 minutes from Interlaken and there are plenty of trains.

Paris Tip

by SilverVelvet

A good way to 'see' Paris are the the hop-on, hop-off tourist buses that stop at all of the major sights, but a better way to 'feel' Paris is to go for a walk. Paris is brimming with tiny secrets around every corner just waiting to be discovered. I saw a bridal party in one of the main squares, students rollerblading to class, a stray cat hiding under a car, two merchants having a dispute over a piece of cheese, the smell of baguettes fresh from the oven, north African women in native dress at a market and a hint of French sophistication from the high-styled locals moving with the daily rhythm of the city.

The main tourist information...

by SilverVelvet

The main tourist information office sits on the Champs D'Elycees in the shadow of the Arch D'Triumphe. Visitors who plan to visit Versaille, the museums and monuments can purchase a museum card there because they're not available at the museums. The museum card is one of those 'pay-one-price-and-ride-all-the-ride' cards that is valid for one, two, three or five consecutive days. Plan the days carefully as many museums are often free one day per month (Often the first Sunday) and sometimes there can be a strike at the Louvre (This happened during one trip). Not only can the card be financially practical for museum hoppers, but holders can also enter Versaille, the Louvre, etc. through a special entrance which is a blessing when several hundred people are waiting to enter Versaille during peak hours. In addition, the card includes a booklet that describes each of about 30 museums and monuments that honor the card. Many of the smaller museums are very deserving and make for some great off-the-beaten-path visits.

Public Toilets

by Albernfrau

Public toilets are everywhere but require change. My husband went in one and said it was horrid. I have heard some are good and some bad. I personally never tried one.

Melting Building

by ruki

House from the picture is Melting Building in Paris. It is a very strange building at 39 Avenue George V. The building seems to melt but in fact it is just a front to hide the true building renovation. It is 3D Mural and it looks very effective and interesting.
