I need a Paris hotel guru, too!
Hello,
I am going to Paris next month and I don't know the city very well. Has anyone ever stayed at the Hotel Saint Gregoire in Paris? It looks like a lovely hotel, but I noticed on the map that it seems a little far from the Latin Quarter/Musee d'Orsay, etc. The website says "halfway between Montparnasse and Saint-Germain". I usually enjoy walking, but I also don't want to spend too much of time getting from my hotel to all the places I want to see (I only have a few days). Does anyone know anything about that neighborhood in general(Paris zipcode 75006)? Is it worth it to stay in a more touristy neighborhood? Any information would be greatly appreciated... merci.

If you can do the "T", you can do the Metro even more efficiently.
Once you are in the Metro, anything in Paris is close. Check for the nearest Metro stop, buy a cachette (sp?) and go.

It is a good location. 10-15 minute walk to the Seine and Notre Dame, very close to the Jardins Luxembourg.

Hi,the St. Gregoire is a very well-regarded 3* hotel that's in the 6th district and was featured in a 2000 issue (April I believe) of Travel & Leisure about small hotels under $200 at that time. It's located closer to the Bon Marche department store and handy to rue du Bac shopping and probably I'd say it takes a few minutes to walk to Blvd. St. Germain and is in a very nice neighborhood. Francois, the manager, is very helpful. I haven't stayed there, but I have contacted the hotel for information recently.
