Cheap Hotels for FOUR only for one night
by vdadu
Well, I am back with questions.......
Could anyone let me know where can I hire a cheap hotel for one night (for four people) in Paris? The sole aim to be in Paris is to watch around the places n since time is short, I would like to be near to the major tourist attractions.
Kindly help me out.
Keep smiling
Vivek

You may want to rent a apartment for the day for 4 people. Hotels are expensive in Paris. Try this site where they people rent out their apartment for families. (www.airbnb.com)

Apartments are usually rented for a week. Three days is becoming more of an option, but overnight is not usually worth it for the owners who have to pay for cleaning.
Instead consider an inexpensive hotel in the center of town. You can type "cheap hotel Paris" into the VT Search Window above and do a Keyword Search.
It would help if you gave an idea of your budget. Cheap to one person can be pretty expensive to another.
Here is a list of hotels under 100 euros a night in central Paris that I've put together from VT member recommendations over the last year (while looking for a hotel for our family). We ended up renting an apartment but for 9 days.
We have stayed in this hotel and it is lovely, clean, friendly, well located: http://hotelplacedesvosges.com/eng/index.php
We have not stayed in the following hotels but they have been highly recommended here on VT.

There are lots more inexpensive hotels recommended here on VT. Type Paris into the VT Search Window and go to the general Paris Travel Page where you can check Tips for Hotels and Accomodations. When you have narrowed your search, go to http://www.tripadvisor.com and check the reviews for each hotel to get many reviews written by people who have stayed there.
We try for the Latin Quarter for inexpensive hotels in the center of town within walking distance of most tourist sights. This is pretty general though. St. Germain, the Marais and other areas also have good hotels and usually in all price ranges.
Good luck and have fun.

www.booking.com and www.venere.com are both reliable sites with large listings in Paris.
Their guest reviews are honest, and their rates usually lower than those found on the hotels' own websites.

Travel Tips for Paris
Tullerías Gardens
by pili
Designed in Century XVII by André Lé Notre, who was Luis XIV´s royal gardener. It has a wide central avenue, with flowers and plants - very few in my opinion - , surrounded by beautiful sculptures. The gardens run parallel to Rue Rivolí, and we can find in one of its extrems the Place de la Concorde and in the other, the Arch du Carrousel.-
Go for a stroll through the gardens. You shoud sit near the fountain, to have a relaxing rest., with an excellent view.-

Recorran los jardines. Vale la pena sentarse alrededor de la fuente a descansar un rato, y disfrutar de excelentes vistas de la Place de la Concorde.-
Louvre

The Louvre is a fantastic place full of wonders placed around several miles of corridor. Its art collection is second to none and its ancient civilisation section is superb. It is so big that several small visits here is the preferred option rather than trying to get around the place in one huge day.
It is no coincidence that some of the most famous pieces of art are contained here - Mona Lisa, Winged Victory of Samothrace and Venus de Milo. A truely magnificent collection of items from all corners of the globe.
The Louvre is so big & popular that it has its own Metro station.
When you have done viewing there is a great shop selling all mode of art item to remind you of your trip. I have a couple of really good guides that are referred to on a regular basis by myself and visitors to my house alike.
Notre Dame
by GUYON
visit Notre Dame (métro : Cité or Chatelet)
Other pages present very well the cathedral.
Do not forget to give a glimpse at the Archealogical Crypt which is on the Place, in front of Notre Dame. Digging here to build an underground parking the workers discovered the remains of the Medieval Paris. A tight network of narrow streets surrounded the Cathedral. They were destroyed during the Second Empire.
In the crypt, you can see the restored ruines of houses and streets with stairs and heatings. A trace of our far past.
- More about the Crypt : see the travelogue. The photograph is taken from the Ile Saint Louis (see the travelogue dedicated to the less known Sister of the City Island)
Just be yourself. This city...

Just be yourself. This city is a melting pot of every race/size/gender/type/language on Earth. The French are beautiful people but dont get caught up trying to speak with an accent if you dont have one.
Into the heart of the stadium -Stade de France
by gordonilla
This of course is more or a recommendation rather than an activity. The Stade de France can be visited by everyone - and is generally open between 10.00 - 17.00. The tour of the stadium lasts alomost an hour; and during it, you will be taken around the stands, the back house area including the changing rooms and of course the pitch.
Tours are conducted in French, but there are dedicated tours which are given in English. (During peak season 10.30 and 14.30) The stadium is accessible for wheelchair users too!
The stadium also boasts a museum which highlights the stadium from it's contsruction to the present day.
