Sit in Tulleries Gardens on Sunday afteroon, near one of the fountains where kids sail toy boats, with your back to the Louvre. Look toward the Arc de Triomphe, past a 2300 year old obelisk, at the the end of the Champs de Ellyses. Then let your gaze wander to the left to the Eiffel Tower. There is no other place like this in the world. Around every corner was a photo opportunity.

So everybody say 'L'ARC de TRIOMPHE' - no no NO - not good enough - once again - ..... nope .... forget it. You will never be able to speak and pronounce it so that you will be understood. Smoking in Paris
by shrimp56
There isn't a whole lot you can do about the preponderance of smoke in Parisian cafes and restaurants. You can consult the website below for some advice on restaurants with non-smoking areas as well as smoke-free restaurants.

The irony of this photo is that the young man with a cigarette in his hand is exiting the medical school just across from Hotel du Danube in the 6e!
Rue Muffetard - cheese and wine anyone?
by tango_jd
A great little street with quirky shops and lots of activity.
Combine with a walk back from the catacombs or Pantheon?
Not too far to walk from our hotel on Rue Des Ecoles but there is a metro stop at Place Monge or Censier Daubenton nearby too.
Google map it - it's great fun!
