well placed Hotel

a pleasant weekend stay,
a freebie for spouse after their workplace's Christmas Pary.
Excellent Buffet Breakfast @ Daly's Bistro
with beautiful views of The New Convention Centre, Canal. NAC, old Union Station, Chateau Laurier and Parliament

Everything you need

The Westin is a great hotel and a great location.

If you don't fancy the old grandeur of the Chateau, you could try this hotel in stead.
Sometimes you'll have to, because visiting government representativies from all over the world fill up hotel spaces quickly.

The Westin is an average modern skyscraper with big glass windows, providing great look-offs onto downtown Ottawa.

Parking is chaotic if you don't use the hotel's valet parking service. The big parking garage of the Rideau center is not the most attractive to use.

Unique Quality: Rooms offer great views and real high speed Internet (the fastest I encountered in Ottawa).

Right Downtown, Shopping & Sightseeing

It's been a while since I've stayed at the Westin. It is an expensive hotel, but depending upon why you're in the city, your desire for comfort, and how much you want to spend on transportation while you're in the city, it may not be so expensive afterall. Attached to the Rideau-Centre Shopping Mall, steps away from The Market, Parliament Hill, and the NAC, and other downtown interests, it truly is a great place to stay from a location standpoint.

Unique Quality: View over the canal, downtown, or to Parliament Hill. Excellent Convention hotel. Westin comfort. (and prices).

They have a concierge!

Very friendly staff. The concierge will get you a table in hard to get-into restaurants. They have a pool with spa which is great after spending the last 2 hours outside skating on the canal.
The hotle is next to the canal and connected to the Rideau center shopping mall.
They gave me 25% off for being a member of CAA. This means $119 USD per night down from $157 USD. And if you're not a Starwood preferred guest, you can register and for that they'll upgrade your room. WE got one on the 20th floor with magnificient view.

Unique Quality: Very good location downtown. You'll never need the car to go anywhere from that hotel

L-A's wedding night hotel

We had a honeymoon suite. The bed was huge - as was the room - and the view was amazing. They also had a fairly big bathroom complete will lots of goodies for us to use

The food at Daly's was good too.

Unique Quality: They had a bottle of champagne for us and friends sent us flowers. We had a package deal. This is not an everyday hotel - and we had a choice between here and the Chateau Laurier. This was much better value

The Weston Hotel is lovely, or the Chateau Laurier, on Rideau, a definite must..an old stunningly pretty hotel.

The Westin hotel is situated in the city centre close to the Rideau shopping complex. It is a luxurious hotel and is fairly expensive. The restaurant in the hotel serves quality food as well.

Great stay at the Westin ... again

We stayed at the Westin Ottawa between September 29, 2004 and October 3, 2004. We were there for a conference which was held in the same hotel. The hotel is, as per Westin standards, very nice. The rooms are all large in size with heavenly furniture and accessories that my wife and I are in love with. The hotel itself is situated right on the Rideau Canal, a few steps from the historic Chateau Laurier and Parliament buildings, and attached to the Rideau Center which has great shopping. All in all, this was a great place to stay although $239 CDN/night for a deluxe room felt like a lot. Also, try to get a room overlooking the Parliament buildings - it is a great view!!!

A Great Stay

Stayed at the Westin Ottawa for 2 nights during the Tulip Festival. Our room had floor to ceiling windows which provided a great view of Byward Market & with $40 per night extra we could have got a deluxe room overlooking the Parliament & the Rideau Canal. The room was spacious and clean, though a bit outdated! Yet the Heavenly Bed was superb!!! I would pay big bucks to sleep in it. Sheets were white & clean and the extra pillows gave us even greater comfort.

Valet parking was $25 per day & you could save a lot using self-park. The Tulip Passport ($15 for 3 weeks) that included a coupon book was worth getting. Just the Tulip shuttles (with stops across the streets) that took you to all the Festival sites were convenient & we didn't have to worry about paid parking... Hop on a shuttle, get a seat, rest your tired feet, enjoy the beautiful tulip views outside...What a fantastic way to spend the Victoria Day Weekend! We didn't use our car to get around on the second day. Hilton Lac-Leamy was a must to see, not only that they gave you $5 to play in the casino, the themed floral arrangements & the thousands of tulips outdoor were spectacular. The Parade of Lights (decorated flowerboats) & Fireworks at Dows Lake were also wonderful.

Thank you Westin Ottawa for your wonderful location, friendly & helpful staff. My family of 4 did feel like being in heaven during our stay.
