Practically Perfect in Every Way

As a local, i chose the Inn on the Alameda out of all the hotels in Santa Fe to spend a "night out" for my son's birthday -- what a wonderful treat, i'm so pleased with my choice!

For starters, there was a Happy Birthday balloon waiting in the room when we arrived. All weekend, the staff went out of their way to make us feel welcome and celebratory.

The room was comfortable, lovely, impeccable, and ridiculously well-priced. We met plenty of interesting and friendly travelers in front of the cozy fireplace at the wine and cheese reception.(The bartender, Charlie, was a gem!)

The spa looked so inviting we decided to brave a hot tub in the snow ~ i was glad to find it hot enough to keep us warm in the freezing weather. The steam was simply magical floating over the sparkling snow, and my newly-6-year-old enjoyed having it to himself to splash in.

Breakfast was delicious, varied and hearty ~ we ate so much granola and frittata and other yummies that we couldn't even eat lunch.

We'll have to make this a tradition -- thank you, Inn on the Alameda, for making my son's birthday so special!

Unique Quality: *Very* reasonably priced. Right near downtown for dining and shopping, and right next to Canyon Road for exploring Santa Fe's famous art galleries. Extraordinary staff.

Our Favorite Hotel in Santa Fe

We have stayed at the Inn on the Alameda on our last three visits to Santa Fe. We have stayed at other hotels in Santa Fe and have always come back here since the first time we stayed here. The rooms are plesant and large. The place is clean, and the staff is friendly and helpful. We highly recommend the Inn to anyone visiting Santa Fe. Among hotels in the same price range, it is an excellent value.

Unique Quality: The location is excellent; a short walk to either downtown or Canyon Road. There is on-site parking, a wonderful breakfast in the morning, and wine and munchies in the afternoon.

curious hotel

I stayed three nights at this hotel. It was in February, usually a slow season, but was the hotel was full on the weekend. It is walking distance to the plaza and to Canyon Road's art galleries.

Unique Quality: You are given free continental breakfast and also there is a free wine and cheese hour in the afternoon. There is free internet access in the lobby.

The property also has a work out room and hot tubs, but I used neither.

More about Inn on the Alameda

a/c didn't work right, dark and dismal

by A TripAdvisor Member

We stayed here a few yrs ago because of some excellent reviews that I'd read (pre tripadvisor.com) and were very disappointed. There are no elevators, shabby exterior hallways (worn, stained carpeting), room was small and dark with low ceilings and to top it off, the a/c was barely functional! Inquire if they still have the same old "swamp" a/c that work on some kind of antiquated system. Breakfast was bountiful and attractive but not especially good. I did get a peek at some rooms across the hall that were much nicer, brighter, more sq feet and with fireplaces. Those would be acceptable. Thank God we were able to switch to the ElDorado after one night. We loved the ElDorado. Our room was spacious, light filled, high ceilings, high end furnishings and bedding. Lobbies were majestic and stately. Staff and service were fine. Nice central location. And we got it at half price thanks to an Entertainment card. I looked at the ElDorado reviews and was shocked they are so negative. Our Santa Fe visit would've been a bummer if we'd remained at the Inn on the Alameda. The name is also inaccurate. There's a busy road between the hotel and the river.

We just returned from our first Santa Fe visit (during an incredible snowstorm!) where we stayed four nights at the Alameda. We arrived late in the evening and were greeted warmly by the reception staff. The reception area is cozy and relaxing with a crackling fire to chase away the freezing temps. There is absolutely nothing stuffy about this place. And yet, the staff was professional and low-key. We used the concierge for dinner reservations and were never disappointed. We had a suite with a living room, wet bar, kiva fireplace, and private patio/courtyard. The sofa in the LR was a bit small, probably because it doubles as a sleeper. This was our main complaint. Since we spent the evenings by the fire (a foot of snow at least!), the sofa just wasn't comfy enough for the two of us. The heater was quiet and efficient. The staff stacked our fireplace with logs every day, which was a nice touch. The bed linens were crisp. There was a comforter for the bed. The mattress was a bit hard for my taste, but my husband liked it very much. There were four pillows on the king bed, two firm, and two soft down. The galley bath was a bit dated, one sink with the toilet right next to it, and the shower/tub next to that. There was lots of closet and storage space. The breakfast was suitable and the afternoon wine/cheese time was charming. If you want PEACE AND QUIET and a great location, this is the place for you.

Fabulous stay at the Inn on the Alemeda

We've stayed here several times in the last few months. The service is really exceptional! The staff will happily direct you anywhere in their lovely city, make recommendations, reservations, provide a map, and make you feel like a valued friend more than a client.

Rooms are beautifully decorated in a South West style, but with lots of up-scale touches, bathrobes, balconys in some rooms, fine toiletries. The breakfast is delicious, many choices. Location is walking distance to most of the interesting sights and restaurants, etc. in Santa Fe.

Don't miss this one!

Glad to be stranded

In the last big storm that closed NM highways east and west, we were lucky to make it to The Inn at the Alameda in Santa Fe. With it's friendly and warm atmosphere, we felt right at home. The hotel is a short walking distance to the Plaza, and with helpful instructions from the staff we were able to visit shops and museums. We also enjoyed the complimentary wine and cheese hour by the fireplace.

We had a small suite with a fireplace and a view to the veranda which allowed us beautiful views of the snow. The complimentary breakfast was very good. They have everything from cereal, fruit, 2 different frittatas (not sure of the spelling but they're simular to a quiche) sweet rolls. Very nice! Being stranded here turned out to be very pleasant for us. We should always be so lucky...

Relax at the Inn on the Alameda

If you are looking for a beautiful and relaxing hotel in the heart of Santa fe, this is the place for you. Upon our arrival we were warmly greeted and offered a delicious, complementary wine and cheese reception. We sat in a beautiful reception room with a cozy fire in the fireplace. The Southwestern decor of the hotel was very natural and peaceful.
The staff was extremely friendly, but not intrusive. They knew and loved the city so they had wonderful suggestions for shopping, dining, gallery hopping and sightseeing. There were nice touches, such as two outdoor spas, an exercise room, the daily wine and cheese reception, an excellent complementary morning buffet , a library, great, comfortable bedding and several nice reception rooms.
We stayed in a splendid suite that had its own little front porch and a real fireplace, including firestarters and wood. The large bathroom with a super large soaking tub was very comfortable.
All of this in a quiet setting that was within walking distence to the Plaza and Canyon Road!
We would definitely reccommend this little gem to others. We hope we can visit it again ourselves.

A Thoroughly Enjoyable Stay

Stayed here May 12-13, 2005 in one of the Sanchez Suites. A truly enjoyable experience! Had fun making a fire one night in the kiva (fireplace) in our room with the wood they had stacked outside our front door. The bed was one of the most comfortable I've ever slept in...triple-sheeted, plenty of pillows and in it's own separate room. They also thoughtfully included a wool throw blanket in the living room to use while watching TV or lounging. My husband enjoyed it so much, he asked if it was available for purchase as a souvenir; unfortunately, it was not. The Inn's location is reasonably close to the Plaza for the usual tourist shopping. Their extended continental breakfast was outstanding! It included quiches, frittatas, sweet rolls, muffins, empanadas, cereals, yogurt, the best coffee. Did not discover until checking out that there is a computer available for the guests to use in the room next to the front desk. My only regret is that I forgot to leave a tip in the room. I've been kicking myself all day.

Wonderful!!!

We had a great trip to Santa Fe. The "Inn" was perfect for us. We stayed in one of the Casitas. VERY clean and comfortable. The location was great. Bob was a great help with all the fabulous restaurants. We had a blast.
The breakfast was a great plus. It's nice not having to go "out" for every meal. We would definitely come back.
