Speaking Spanish here is definitely an asset! by maryellen50
You will have a great experience here if you speak Spanish as people are very friendly however few speak much English. I liked everything about Buenos Aires including that everything was very reasonable due to the peso devaluation. I rarely changed dollars as everyone seemed to prefer the dollars versus the peso probably due to exchange rate thru the bank. Being a single, female traveler here presented no problems and I felt very safe everywhere I went. Taxis are plentiful and cheap. Good restaurants are everywhere.I think what made my trip to Buenos Aires the most enjoyable was THE PEOPLE! They were very friendly. I stayed at the Hotel Dolmen in the city centre with a very friendly staff and very convenient to everything. And the weather was PERFECT - always around 78 degrees F.
