There are some dive shops in Jakarta and regularly they organize a dive trip during weekend. We can join them. Our usual dive trip destination is to one of Thousand islands (start by boat from Ancol) or to Sanghyang island (by boat from Anyer-it's 3 hrs from Jakarta by car).
Equipment: They provide all the dive gear, make sure we get the right size. But we can bring ours if we want.

If you have some extra time in Jakarta, you may wish to go diving outside of Pulau Seribu (1000 Islands) for a weekend. This short dive trip involved taking a ~2 hour boat ride out of a marina in Jakarta early in the morning on Saturday and spending the night in a island resort. I stayed at Matahari Resort, which in itself was the island, all of a 5 minute walking lap. After three dives on Saturday and two on Sunday, it was time to take the return boat back to Jakarta. The facilities were not extravagant, but were comfortable. Diving likewise was not the best of the world, but beats a good day at work any time. Waters were warm, visibility was ~30ft due to heavy plankton and currents, but that just made the soft corals and small reef fish that much more healthy. There were lots of smaller reef fish and schools, health soft corals, and active nocturnal critters during the night.

Permata Sentul
The international standard course is rather hilly. The front nine predominantly plays down hill, while the back nine plays up hill. The green of hole 9 is situated some 100 meters above sea level. Hole 18 finishes some 244 meters above sea level. To give you an idea: the tee box of hole 1 is situated some 181 meter above sea level, while the green finishes at some 150 meters above sea level. The course is friendly and players of all skill levels have a choice out of 4 different tee box positions. Down hill play is always somewhat difficult when it comes to club selection and that's what make Permata Sentul's front nine challenging and tricky. Overconfident players who come to play this course for the first time should bare this in mind. If down hill play is tricky, up hill play is certainly not easy too. The back nine will prove this.

The Imperial Golf Course is located in the satellite town of Lippo Karawaci, some 30 minutes outside of Jakarta's city centre. The 6,907 yard, international standard course, was designed by Desmond Muirhead and is a public facility. It's an open and rather flat course with lots of artificial undulations. The wind, deep and sometimes long and wide bunkers in all sort of shapes and interesting water hazards .The club boasts a 300 yard driving range and a chipping-and-putting and bunker shot practice are. The course is located adjacent to the 5-star Imperial Century Hotel and the Super Mall for all your shopping needs.
Padang Golf Modern is the only golf course in Indonesia which provides "night" golf. The course was designed by five-time British Open champion Peter Thomson. The Farway quite Flat land but tricky if you miss yur fairway .
