 | Matsuyama Restaurants | Tips 1 - 10 of 14 | | The department store at the city station for example has a large food section in the basement, where you can buy fresh food like fruits, vegetables, meat, fish, cakes, bread etc. There are also stands where you can buy small snacks like marinated chicken sticks or other food. Sometimes they even offer free food samples like small fish, chestnuts or pastries. Everything here is perfectly presented and decorated, it is so much fun only going through and looking, it's all so clean and fresh!
We especially liked the chicken marinated in different sauces. And it's not expensive at all. Leave a Comment Theme: LocalPrice: less than US$10 » Currency ConverterComparison: less expensive than averageAddress: basement of department stores

This little restaurant looks like a fastfood restaurant, only that it serves very spicy and delicious noodle soups. It's a good place to go if you want good, inexpensive food in a relaxed atmosphere.
We have tried two different soups, they were both good. Just point on the menu at the soup that looks the most appealing to you. It's the only real French restaurant in town. The owner/chef is a bonafide Frenchman.
I like the paella. It is a Spanish dish served in a French restaurant, but I'm not complaining, as I lived in Ehime for two years and welcomed a taste that was distinctively non-Japanese. Leave a Comment Theme: OtherDirections: From Shi-Eki, go left towards the JR station. You can't miss it.

Freshness burger near the city station is pretty good for its burgers and coffee. They have a good range to choose from, and it's reasonably priced. The best part about this restaurant is that it is only one of two authentic foreign restaurants in Matsuyama. If you are there for the short term, stick to the Japanese food. If you are spending a month or more and want something different, try this please.
Beef or Lamb Curry with flat bread. Leave a Comment Theme: OtherDirections: It's about 3 blocks from Shi-Eki (the IyoTetsu station) along the castle moat.

Iyotetsu kaikan is my favourite beer garden in Matsuyama. It's a rooftop beer garden and is open from May to September. 3000 yen for all you can eat and drink. Many a happy time has been spent there by yours truly. Spice Kingdom (in Japanese supaisu oukoku) is a chain of restaurants in the Matsuyama area, with restaurants in the Okaido shopping arcade, near Ehime university, and also in Shigenobu and Tobe. It's authentic Indian food prepared by Indian chefs, and at good prices. Mains tend to start from 700-800 yen, and you can get lunch for 600-800 yen. Great food and good value. Leave a Comment

When you visit Matsuyama, I recommend five colour noodles which is beautiful - white, yellow, brown, green, red! white is made from buckwheat, red is Japanese apricot, green is Japanese tea, yellow is egg.. natural coloring.
This restaurant's every noodles is delisious, but I recommend Tai-somen. so,in Setonaikai area there are a lot of Tai(Red snapper),which is very fresh! This is one of Matsuyama's better beer gardens. Nearly everything there, alcohol and food is made within Ehime Prefecture itself. Price depends on whether you go for the normal course, or the yakiniku course. Unfortunately as we found when we visited, the yakiniku course is for 3 or more people. There's a good view of Matsuyama castle depending on where you are seated. Munchen is a beer hall that specialises in fried chicken. It does do other stuff like sausage, salad and so on, but people only ever go in there to eat fried chicken and down a few cold beers.
