Private Car
  • Tip Rating:
  • There is reason to believe that going by a private means get you to places more conviniently. As I said, I was in Brest first time by air, and I couldnt get eneough of this region..so, I had to do it again by road. It is the wise thing to do.

Buses are the best way around
  • Tip Rating:
  • Bibus, the local bus company has an extensive network that will take you to most places in Brest and around. If you plan to take it a lot, buy a carnet of 10 tickets from the specialised shops or cafes that have the bibus sign.

    Direct flight from London
  • Tip Rating:
  • Buzz now has a daily flight to Brest direct from London Stansted. Because Buzz is a "no-frills" airline, the prices are good. Flights are usually on time but considering it is the same plane that does the Marseilles-Brest route, a delay on the arrival from Marseilles will have a knock on effect on your return flight to Stansted. Note that those flights have been suspended for the duration of the month of April 2003 because Ryanair just bought Buzz. They will resume in May under the Ryanair brand.

Moving around Brest itself is better by Bus. They are available, cheap and almost always empty. However, I enjoyed just walking the town, its great.

This was the most wonderful cruise I have done in a long while. Brest, Le Conquet, to Ile d'Ouessant.

    High speed train from Paris
  • Tip Rating:
  • The SNCF (national railways) has several daily high speed trains to Brest. It takes 4 hours from Gare Montparnasse and there is no chance you'll miss the stop because Brest is where the train terminates.

  • Train is quite expensive in France but with car , it's the best way to go around (and there is a lot to see) You can find bus routes in Brittanny, less expensive but not as easy. Check train prices and timetables in Brest railway station, buses station is close to it . Staff will help with care. In town bus is the best and easiest transportation , ticket cost: 1 EUR
