Two of my favorite café – bars, “Nikiforos” and “Nisi”, are located in the same shady square - Karaoli Dimitriou square, at the beginning of Kountouriotis street - where you can enjoy coffee or drinks, day or night, in a very relaxed and easy atmosphere. “Nisi” also organizes live events, which are usually very good, so try not to miss them.
Unfortunately, the third bar of the square, which happened to be a very alternative cultural multiplex and had the unusual name “Alice has the wrong boy-friend”, is now closed. It was a big loss!

This is a historical café – restaurant, with very good dishes and a lot of appetites to accompany an “ouzo”, or a cold beer. Actually, the reason that I record this as “nightlife”, is because it’ s open all around the clock and it’ s my favorite spot to end a night out (with some soup, a strong coffee, or anything you wish). At this time of night, it’ s calm and quite, with an incredible scent of night flowers and linden trees spreading in the air.
But it’ s nice and shady in the morning, too, a real “oasis” in the busy city center. If you go there for food, try the pastrami-pie and tomato-kofta. Also the handcrafted beer from the greek micro-brewery “Craft”, it’s excellent.

With big glass windows, overlooking the pedestrian Ag. Nikolaou street, and big portraits of Mao on the walls, this café – bar has a unique retro feeling. In addition, it plays grate music and organizes a lot of live events. It is located in the old neighborhood of St Nicolas, where you can find a lot of nice café – bars, but I think, this is the one that makes the difference.
