 | Puerto Vallarta Malecon Reviews | Tips 1 - 10 of 17 | | Puerto Vallarta is famous for its Malecon that stretches along the impressive beach. This is obviously one of the best places in the city to take a walk. I visited Puerto Vallarta just after a hurricane and the Malecon was under urgent repair for the tourist season. In the link below I have some scenes from the area. Enjoy! Please rate my tips and leave all your comments. In this picture "The Dolphins" is located next to the Los Arcos Amphitheater on the Malecon, in El Centro. This fountain is a modern bronze sculpture sitting atop a circular domed shape fountain. Sculptor James Bottoms created it as a gift to Puerto Vallarta from sister city, Santa Barbara California. The three dolphins in the monument represent the brotherhood of the two cities and the friendship that unites them. Each dolphin appears to look in a different direction, one towards the city, one towards the sky and the other to the sea. Leave a Comment

On the Malecon there is alot to see and do, the streets have shops, Resturants, Bands, Bars, and more. Its nice to even walk on the Malecon during the day or night. its all lit up at night, so you dont have to worry. Its a very popular place to go...its right in Downtown Pv and walking distance to Old Town. the 'Zoo bar' and ' Carlos O Brians ' are also located right on the Malecon. Very Popular Bars, Carlos is also a resturant during the day, and a dance club at night. Leave a Comment Address: Right along the Ocean in Downtown Puerto Vallarta.

Well, we walked in search of sand and beach to put our feet inthe ocean, and we came across these local girls making one of their friends into a sand mermaid, she could very well deny me a photo... they were laughing and giggling and having fun on the beach. I was told that Puerto Vallarta is also a vacation spot for the mexicans from inland, which makes sense, there's a nice breeze and water to cool off at, not only us Northern invaders. Every day, we walked by to see what the sculpturer would have created in the sand, as you can see, this took alot of time and effort on his part. Another time there was Jesus with candles by it. Congratulations mama's is the translation... Leave a Comment Address: Walk the Malecon

Everyone must agree that Malecon is something rarely to be seen in this part of the world. It is a wide seaside walkway around 2km long and it is packed with bars, restaurans and shops (see more photos in my travelogue). It reminded me of some Mediteranean coast towns. Every night you must check in there and see what is going on. Everyone is out, and the place is especially packed on Sunday night when Mexican families go out as well. I was lucky to be there during music festival when they organized jazz and classical concerts for several nights at this open stage (photo). Feeling is amazing. Leave a Comment

If you go into town for any reason....dinner, shopping, etc. Please take the extra time to walk along the Malecon. It only takes about 45 minutes and you will see some of the most beautiful sculptures you have ever seen, not to mention a pretty beach or some unique sand structures. There is a sidewalk provided so you don't have to get sand in your shoes or sandles, with bench's along the way if you want to sit and ponder. Check out some of the other unique items you may see along the way. Every day it's a different story as to what's happening on the beach! Directions: Mid town

If you're left at night at your hotel wondering where everyone went? Chances are they are strolling down the "Malecon" strip... Besides all the nightlife, there are some cool sand sculptures, street performers etc. It's definitely worth a night out, get AWAY from the hotel! Address: Tell the cab driver "malecon"

walk along the "malecon" (long and wide sidewalk that runs along the ocean, or bay, more correctly) downtown. it is like a promenade where you will see lots of young people flirting with each other (but not making out in public). Leave a Comment Address: downtown

A lot of tourists seem to explore the newer part of the Malecon, where locals sell their artwork and shoppers strolls around the streets. However, the further south you go along the Malecon, the more historic the Malecon becomes, until eventually the neighbourhood and the beach become one. It's here where you'll find the old Puerto Vallarta, before the surge of the past few decades of tourism inflicted the city. My entire family felt that this was more of an authentic Puerto Vallarta, and we enjoyed exploring the restaurants and shops in this area. Simply wandering around the Malecon here was enjoyable for us. Leave a Comment

If you walk through the flea market next to Rio Cuale towards the ocean you will come upon the southern most part of the Malecon. For the next mile and a half (mas o menos) there will be ocean, sand sculptures, and interesting statues on your left. On the right there are many shops and restaurants, some very good.
