Great for families

Best (5.0 of 5.0 stars)
by written on October 21, 2013

We went here in spring of 2013 because we wanted something which is not too far away (less flying because of the back problems of my husband), with warm enough water to go swimming and snorkeling. So we choose Egypt.
Our travel organizer recommended this hotel - we wanted something where our 6 year old boy would also have some fun.
We were not disappointed.

Unique Quality: The hotel complex is huge - and very much self-reliant. You don't have to get out.
There are several restaurants - all inclusive and some you may pay something, where you also have to make reservations before. Every swimming pool has bars - most of it all inclusive as well. There are different pools - one for adults only, most mixed. We had a deluxe room right at the big pool with the 3 tubes - great fun!
There are a lot of small shops in the main area in the center ... even a pharmacy.
There is also a spa, a dive center etc.
The reef in formt of the hotel is great: The clear water, the colorful corals and fishes ... and you only have to get down to the beach (by lift) and walk up the pier to get in.

For first time travelers here it is at first a lot to learn how things work. For instance that if you stay in the deluxe rooms you can go and have breakfast in the Fishermen restaurant - which is a lot (!) more relaxed than the big restaurant at the cliff where you normally go. It's nice there, too - with the view and all, but ... the fresh orange juice is only free in the Fishermens ...
Also you get "tickets" with which you can get free drinks in cans at one of the shops in the center.
There is a bus - so you don't have to walk to and from the sea and the restaurants.

Directions: Outside of Sharm itself - closer to the airport. Not much noise from the planes, though.

Reef Oasis Beach Resort

Good (3.0 of 5.0 stars)
by written on March 25, 2006

The Reef Oasis Beach Resort is located in the Ras Um El Cid area, known for great snorkelling and diving. It has a beautiful house reef "Temple" that is also popular amongst divers from other hotels. Sometimes there were 10 boats with divers anchored ... and it got a bit crowded at 20 meters below sea-level.

The hotel is huge and is under Italian management (Venta Club). No wonder 80% of the guests are Italians (ciao!). It's an older hotel and not all the rooms have been renovated. They also vary in size somewhat. Our first room was old, darkish and rather small and the bathroom was very old! We refused it and with a little persuasion from my side we got a much nicer room: large and bright, with two queen size beds, and a completely renovated bathroom with a walk-in shower (room no. 446), located right at the Coral Pool. Thank you, Ahmed!
