RC Shop in KL

by bangdong

During my quest to find a shop that sells used CDs in KL, I came across a listing for the RC Shop, run by the Malaysian Red Crescent society in KL. They list their address as: 32 Jalan Nipah, near Jalan Ampang.
My question is: what is the best/easiest/closest way to get there using the LRT or other commuter train? Which station is closest to the Red Crescent building?

The nearest station is Dato Keramat. But there's still quite a distance from the LRT station.

Two nearest LRT Station, Dato Keramat LRT and Jelatik LRT station. I preferred to walk from Jelatik LRT Station.

walking from both station to RC should take around 12 minutes. For Maps, you can use their own website link which connected to Google Map

Travel Tips for Kuala Lumpur

babies up towers

by s0pie

Hi, Not sure about the medical implications of taking babies up the towers - but I thought that it is ok to take a baby on flights, which the cabin pressure is maintained at 3000 feet. The Petronas towers are an awesome sight by day but esp at night, a better view of the city can be got from the Menara tower however so would recommend going up that one. (And you don't have to get there at 8 o'clock in the morning to avoid the queues) Transport in and around the city centre is very easy with the monorail running right from the central train station all the way through, although with the baby you should avoid this in rush hours!!!! it does get packed!!! other times of the day is fine

and yes you are right the taxi's are bad for ripping you off unless you know the journey time and can argue the point. Other things to consider :- the butterfly farm, many parks and museums are also dotted around.. And of course SHOPPING!!
Hope it helps KLCC at night

Plenty of markets

by city_guy

One of the interesting things that should not missed out are the interesting markets available in Kuala Lumpur and throughout Malaysia. The picture shows a typical day market under a highway in Kuala Lumpur.

From general day time markets called 'Pasar Tani' till evening/night markets called 'Pasar Malam' they are available in almost any district. They are usually one day in a week and you should consult a local on the timings of the markets which usually sell foods, clothes, movies and lots more interesting stuff.

The most popular markets in KL city would be the Central Market( a handicraft market) and Chinatown (tons of stuff).
My fondest memory would be the first time I went to Chinatown with my parents. I was around 8 years old that time, and man...did that change my perception about shopping. *grin*

Happy Shopping!

Menara

by cheekymarieh

Menara Tower was top of my list of places to visit. If there is a tall point in any town or city that I visit I try my best to go up to the top.

When I arroved in the city, this was the first place I headed to. I am eternally thankful that I did because after I had done a full circuit of the tower's viewing points, the clouds began to cover the tower. Some of the views of the city from the tower were magnificent.

The skyline of Kuala Lumpur

by DanielF

Kuala Lumpur seems to be in permanent mutation. Many skyscrapers have been built around the city and a lot of construction was still ongoing. This has resulted in a futuristic skyline with some of the tallest buildings on Earth.

Kiblat (Qibla) Directional Sign

by chiabh

In all hotel rooms in Malaysia, it is a requirement to have a directional sign for the kiblat (or qibla)... Qibla is an Arabic word for the direction that should be faced when a Muslim prays... The qibla is oriented towards the Kaaba in Mecca and while praying, Muslims will face the direction of Mecca...

The qibla directional sign in hotel rooms is for the convenience of Muslim guests who will then have no problems in performing their daily prayers... The qibla directional sign is normally located on the ceiling or in one of the drawers of the hotel room...
