Anyone has stayed in Coronade Hotel in KL?
I am planning to stay in Dec 2010 but am afraid of the age of the rooms.
I am shortlisted a few similar hotels, pls advise a better choice in terms of room condition and convenience to shopping, monorail and street food.
1. Piccolo
2. Capitol
3. Federal
4. Melia
5. Royale Bintang
Hi,
I've not stayed in any of these hotels but bear in mind The Federal and Royale Bintang have working girls hanging around on a night and you'll certainly be approached by one if you're a single mail. A polite No is all that's needed though. My choice would probably be the Piccolo, it's a newish Boutique hotel that's near the Pavilion Shopping Centre.
Enjoy Malaysia - I do
The Coronade is generally regarded as a shoppers hotels situated near Sungai Wang Plaza but all the Hotels mentioned are within the the Golden Triangle.
The Federal had some refurbishment not a while back and the Royale Bintang considered a little better than the rest mentioned.
As for "extras", they are to be lurking everywhere within the Golden Triangle although the authorities are "trying" to contain them. As mentioned, if approached, a simple NO will suffice.
Selamat Datang ke Malaysia (welcome to Malaysia) and have a pleasant stay.
I have not stayed at any of the hotel that you have listed but I have heard good things abour the Piccolo Hotel.
They all seem to be quite similar hotels like you have suggested, so maybe take a look through the hotel websites again and pick the best one which will suit your holiday plans best for your time in Kuala Lumpur.
Thanks for all your response, I have booked PICCOLO Hotel for my stay. Hope it remains good!

For me, i like staying around Bukit Bintang. Plenty hostel and hostel around there. You can check on www.hostelworld.com to find budget hostel or www.agoda.com to check hotel accomodation.
Bukit Bintang is near from MRT, many restaurant, and not far from the sights such as twin tower.
I have never been to Cameron Highland so I can not compare between cameron highland to genting highland. As i know, Genting highland has theme park. But There are many entertaiment spots too. You can check on the website http://www.rwgenting.com/.
Happy traveling
You can't miss Merdeka Square, a huge green expanse surrounded by a mish-mash of buildings. From the Tudor style Royal Selanger Club and St. Mary's Cathedral, to the Moorish Sultan Abdul Samad Building, featured in this photo. You can also glimpse the Menara KL Tower in the background.
Street eating is generally okay, tourists can sit anywhere to eat, its our Malaysian's way of eating on the street. Chinatown especially has so many tourists sitting a gang to eat drink chitchat etc, they are tourists, some are local peoples. I seldom go to eat there, I have my secret better place to eat but too far for tourists, needs private car.
Shaking hand is very popular like any other places on earth but there is a slight problem. Being a Muslim country, women usually don’t offer handshakes and they just smile to show their welcome gesture.
