Sunway Resort Hotel

I booked online after falling in love with their website. Booked the cuti-cuti package which included free tickets to the Sunway Lagoon, theme park and Zoo as well as breakfast and accommodation. The hotel itself was far from Kuala Lumpur in Selangor. I called one night in advance and found out my package was not booked under cuti-cuti but normal rates. However the staff was helpful and rectified this immediately without making me feel like I was a bother. We took a taxi to the gate and were pleased with what we saw. The lobby was full of Christmas bells and whistles and looked marvelous. The check-in was normal and I was served very courteously. The room had full windows which revealed the enormous lagoon park. The bed was comfortable, the bathroom was clean and well equipped. The room had all the necessities including free water and a guide to the hotel. A huge shopping mall was within the facility. Needless to say I was highly impressed.

Unique Quality: I had a day pass to the lagoon next door. Its the only hotel I have been to that has a zoo, with indigenous animals just next door. It has so much going on that you are sure to find what you need.

Whenever I’m on holiday, the one that I concern the most is the Toilet cleanliness. Can you imagine if the toilet doesn’t give you a pleasure to stay longer than a minute because of it’s dirtiness? So with this as my latest experience with sunway resort hotel, I’m truly satisfied at least I don’t feel uncomfortable and happy enough to rest at the bath tub, reading newspaper while ***TING. My last experience with one of the Singapore 3 Star hotel is I can hear other guest walking at the “room floor” whenever I’m at toilet. So annoying and make me uncomfortable.....wish its can help some ppl that need this info.

Unique Quality: Facilities, pool, services are great and more importants things is comfortable.....

Sunway Tower Resort hotel is one of the most fantastic place I've ever stayed at. It's a five star complex half an hour drive outside central Kuala Lumpur, and is next door with the water theme park Sunway Lagoon.

The room I had was a huge one, with a great queen bed, huge bathroom with a tub and a tv with sport and movie channel. There was a safe, a fridge (empty no, no minibar) and a desk. Internet connection is available, although not wireless and definitely not cheap. 58 RM/24 hours (15 euro) is a robbery, but then again this seem to be more and more common at high valued hotel.

Best with the hotel is not the room though, and neither the great breakfast. Instead it's the cool surroundings, with a maxi shopping center in the same building (it said it contained 300 shops, but after getting lost in there five times in four days I must say that there are way more than 300...), and a ice hockey rink at the bottom of it. The rink was full all day long with people who rented skates and went out on the ice having fun. Some really good, some... eh... less good.

The hotel also has its own spa, Mandara Spa. I never got the chance to try it though, as most massage had a price of over 100 euro. Massage is nice, but not that nice...

Next to the hotel is Sunway Resort, a huge theme park specialised in water. Reviews I read before booking complained about the fact that entrance wasn't included for hotel guests, and I can kind of agree about that, specially as this five star hotel doesn't have another pool for its guests. But then again, the most expensive entrance fee is 10 euro, so I can't be too pissed about it.

More of a problem then is the location, as the hotel is a good 30 minute drive from KL. Positive is that it makes the whole place very much calmer than the rest of the city, but it also means that one has to spend a smaller fortune on taxi forth and back. Taxis to KL can be booked via the hotel and cost 50 RM (13 euro).

Unique Quality: Shopping center and hockey rink. I've never seen that inside a hotel before.

This is a good hotel located at the Petaling Jaya area of Kuala Lumpur, which features a big water theme park (which is great especially if you are here with friends or family) as well as a big shopping mall just next to the hotel.

The hotel has 5 star facilities and the hotel staff are very friendly and helpful. Rooms are clean with great views of the water theme park. The interesting thing about this hotel is that it is built on an old mine, so the hotel lobby is actually on the 11th floor and the rooms are below the lobby instead of above it :)

We were dissapointed. When we arrived in the taxi, we were just left standing there for some time before someone came to greet us and assist with the bags. Check-in ( booking was made online) was handled by a worried, no eye contact, no greeting staff member, not a very pleasant affair. When we were shown our room, which I had paid AUD$190 a night for, I just said no-way. It looked like a 3 1/2 -4 * room at best. We were upgraded to a theme suite, and we did appreciate their response. However, our dissapointment didn't end there. Service from staff in a lot of areas was offhand, bordering on the insolent at times. We felt like nuisances just being there ! The customer service just didn't happen. Getting an extra key card was a huge drama, having coffee on the pool terrace while I waited for my family to come down to breakfast was not handled graciously. The towel boy at the pool wanted to hammer home the fact that lost towels would cost us MR$35.oo, his delivery of this well signposted fact made us feel like we had already lost 10 of his towels ! We just stood there gobsmacked. It was a strange experience this hotel stay ! Gorgeous public areas though, and a very extensive buffet breakfast.

Unique Quality: Adjoined to a great shopping centre via an air-con walk bridge. Them park also adjoins. There are infrequent wave sessions and you do have to register and pay a deposit and a charge , about MR$40-50 all up for body & surf boards - you can't bring your own. This is in addition to the entry fee which is the same for users and spectators.

It is a good place for business or leisure. Why?It is a beautiful five star hotel.With a probably less than 2 minutes walk over under the roof, Sunway pyramid shopping complex. There is a Sunway Lagoon Theme Park if you are bringing your family, Petting Zoo and Extreme Park all at close proximity of walking distance.
However this hotel is in Petaling Jaya, which is quite far from city centre of Kuala Lumpur

Unique Quality: Lovely design.Good service and convenient to shop and play and rest!

Directions: Just mention Sunway hotel to the taxi driver. Is easy. Everyone should know where it is when you ask.
