Cheap Korean Hostel with Filipino Hospitality

Be sure to book at Namsan Guest House 2. Guest house 1 is on a much steeper place and much farther up hill. Reception for Namsan Guest House 1 and 2 is at Namsan 1. The rooms are box type but are clean and well heated (went to KR during autumn - late november). Rooms can be a bit creepy in Namsan 1. Thai and Filipino housekeepers. What I loved about this guesthouse are their receptionist. They are very accommodating albeit the language barrier. Breakfast is eat all you can- toast with peanut butter, jam and spicy korean noodles. Cool patio at Namsan Guest House 2. Less than 24USD/night/person. Rooms are cleaned everyday. Be careful though, the pull out bed is creaky!

Unique Quality: I was amazed at the high tech lock for the doors! Rooms are fairly clean, though rooms are much nicer in Namsan 2. I loved the patio in Namsan 2. Very clean at great for drinking and chatting with friends at night.

Stay at a guest house in Seoul

There are many guest houses in the city of Seoul. The price and facility is kind of similar to a youth hostel. A twin or double room which has a private bathroom costs usually 40,000 Won (about $40) a night. The best thing is that most of the guest houses are located by the subway, making it easy to tour around the city.

I stayed at the Namsan Guest House for three nights, one for a twin room and the other two for a double room. The room is small (about 5 square meters), and the bathroom is about 2. But the room is cozy because it is equipped with the floor-hearting system. It's very dry inside, so do remember to keep drinking water.

There are 3 advantages to stay at Namsan:

1. Convenient traffic: It's located at Myeong Dong, a center for shopping and leisure, which is not far from the major sightseeing places. The guest house is about 300m away from the #4 subway station.

2. This guest house offers the free pick-up and ride service to the neighboring areas at the day time. The reception asks your destination and if you want to take a ride when you are about to leave.

3. Mobilephone rental: less expensive than T2K offers, but better to make a reservation because we happened to run into a short-supply of cellular...

Great value for money close to Seoul Tower

Haven't stayed there myself but I recently checked out the location and facilities and couldn't find any major concerns.

Rooms include a double bed, mirror, cable TV, hair dryer, hair brush, shampoo, shower gel, towles and touthpaste.

The rates also include daily breakfast, free Internet access, shuttle services to Namdaemun and Dongdaemun as well as rental of mobile phones... which, frankly speaking, is simply amazing.

It's conveniently located less than 5 minutes away from Myeongdong and the Namsan cable car.

The below rate is based on single occupancy!
(rooms generally accommodate up to three persons)

Where to stay in Chung-gu

by Starbee

Can you please recommend an affordable place or guesthouse to stay in Chung-gu? I am staying in Korea for 5 days with my sister. I am in the look out for a place that is near the seoul City Hall. I appreciate your response

RE: Where to stay in Chung-gu

There are a couple of possibilities: Han Suites and the Ibis Myeong-dong are affordable hotels. Otherwise, the Namsan Guesthouse is very conveniently located. Just to name a few...

Have a look at my VT Seoul page for further details first and let me know if there are any questions left to ask.

Cheers,
Robert

Advise needed

Can someone who has stayed at both Daewoo Motel and Namsan Guesthouse advise which of these is better in terms of location?

Has anyone stayed in Everland New Cabin Hostel? Is it worth a night there?

I am trying to find out the address for "Doctor Fish Therapy" in Seoul. Anybody got any idea where is it?

Thank you very much for the much appreciated advise

I don't have an address for you, but I thing the "Dr Fish Spa" is actually located in Icheon (not to be confused with Incheon).

Accommodation near Namdaemon Market

by redlover

Hi ! I will be in Seoul end of January 2006 but I haven't booked any hotels yet. Was wondering if anyone can recommend any cheap hotels near the Namdaemon Market.

Thanks !

Hi Red,

I think the Namsan Guesthouse might be most convenient to you. Have a look at my accommodation tips on my Seoul page for details.

If you prefer staying at a real hotel, you might wanna check out www.asiarooms.com, as they usually offer some pretty good rates.

Cheers,
Robert

Hi
we stayed at the New Oriental Hotel which is v. close to Namdaemon Market. It cost 83000 won but you can get a 10% discount if you pay in cash. It's ok - well a bit retro actually.
I think the Astoria may be ok as well but didn't stay there as they seemed to bump up their prices over the weekend.
