Madam Kwans - KLCC Shopping Centre: Local Malaysian Food
We had lunch with borneogrrl here. You can always trust a local to choose a great restaurant. When we arrived the place was packed, plus there were people waiting outside for a table....... another tell tale sign that this was going to be good. And it was! Great choice Valerie!! :o)
I highly recommend Madam Kwans in the KLCC Shopping Centre. The food was lovely, service fantastic and price reasonable.
The reviews on Trip Advisor on the link below also attest to this restaurant being an excellent choice.

Madam Kwan at Midvalley: Delicious Sang Har Mee and Otak-Otak
I like to go Madam Kwan for Otak-otak, especially. It taste similar to the Otak-Otak I tasted in Muar, Johor.
It is juicy, fragrant, and just adequate spicy.
It's Sang Har mee is also very delicious, although the price is not very cheap.
I have visited Madam Kwan, Midvalley, for dinner each time before I catch a movie in the cinema. For each time I went, the service is always disappointing. The staff look uninterested and not enough passion. The attendant at the door is NOT smiling at all.
Hence, I told my friend that I will NOT visit Madam Kwan at Midvalley again but other branch, I think KLCC one was good.
A restaurant is NOT only about good food, but also the service.
Favorite Dish: Otak-otak, fragrant, tasty, and juicy
Sang Har mee, juicy.

Madam Kwan's: Enjoyed the soupiness
Madam Kwan's serves mainly traditional Chinese food. The service was prompt. For those Muslim travellers, this restaurant is halal (just look out for the halal sign/logo outside the restuarant). Although Malaysia is an Islamic country, not necessarily everything is halal.
Favorite Dish: I had the seafood soup vermicilli. Enjoyed it!
Madam Kwan's: Ideal Place to sample good variety of local food
I always bring my overseas guests to this restaurant and so far have gotten rave reviews.
Favorite Dish: My all time favourite is the mushroom chicken rice and the assam prawns. If you are adventurous, try the sambal petai ( u may need a strong mint after ). You can order dishes ( e.g. fish head curry, stir fried kailan vegetable, chicken rendang curry ) or individual dishes ( kuay teow soup noodles, fried mee mamak ).
Madam Kwan's: Popular Restaruant at KLCC
Madam Kwan's is a very popular restaruant at KLCC. You will know by just looking at the queue outside the restaurant during lunch hour. Compared to the other restaurants at the same level, this is definitely more well-known.
Favorite Dish: I ordered Nasi Bojari for both my visits to Madam Kwan's. This dish is like Nasi Bryani, with coloured rice. At Madam Kwan's, Nasi Bojari is the coloured rice with a big chicken drumstick, redangs and sambal prawns. The serving is very big and I cannot finish the plate on the 2 occasions. The price is more expensive than outside ~ RM19.90. Other popular dishes here will be Nasi Lemak and Curry Fish Head.
Madam Kwan's: My Favourite Outlet
My favourite branch: Bangsar Telawi. I like this place. It's small, not too crowded if you go dduring the right time and the food taste better here than the one in KLCC. The service is also much better here. It's located in a row of not so many restaurants so it's a little more comfortable.
Favorite Dish: Nasi Lemak, Char Kuay Teow.
Madam Kwan's: Nasi Lemak? Madam Kwan's
Madam Kwan's has 3 branches in Mid Valley Megamall, KLCC and in Bangsar.
If you are looking for a nice place to try out Malaysian local dishes, Madam Kwan is the perfect place although the prices are a bit pricey. They have all sorts of Malaysian food from their famous nasi lemak to Chinese style chicken rice to Indian style fish head curry and local desserts.
Madam Kwan's Cafe & Cusine: Madam Kwan's Cafe & Cusine
The owners are previous owners of Sakura Restaurant in Jalan Imbi... Madam Kwan's has 3 outlets now in Suria KLCC, Bangsar Baru and Mid Valley Megamall...
The restaurant is known for its nasi lemak and curry fish head... other notable dishes include steam chicken... and other local noodle specialities as well...
Favorite Dish: The speciality of the restaurant is the nasi lemak and curry fish head... both the lemak and assam preparation are good... but personally, i prefer the lemak version...
Madam Kwan's: Hawker Food, Luxury Ambiance
If you would like to try local food without the sight of sweaty hawkers cooking up the yummy dishes, you can try Madam Kwans at KLCC or Midvalley Megamall. The enviroment is that of an old kopitiam or coffeeshop but it's clean and comfortable. The service is fast and your order will arrive within 15 minutes. There are a variety of local dishes on the menu from chicken rice to asam laksa noodles. Unfortunately, prices are not like the hawker's but you get a good selection of near authentic cooking in a nice enviroment.
While the service is fast & friendly, I can't help feeling that the staff are rushing the patrons to eat and go. What do you expect? This place is always full especially during lunchtime and people queueing outside are hoping that you do eat & go :)
Favorite Dish: Try the chicken rice, nasi lemak and ice tea
